LOCATION: Albelda de Iregua - 542 m above sea level, 13 kms from the capital of Rioja, Logroño. Rioja Alta.
D.O.C.: Rioja.
CLIMATE: In Rioja, there are two opposed climates -Atlantic and Mediterranean- which provide mild temperatures and an annual rainfall of slightly above 400 l/m2 -ideal conditions for growing grapes.
VINEYARDS: 30 to 35 years old Tempranillo bush-vines.
VARIETIES: 100% Tempranillo.
SOIL TYPE: In Rioja Alta the soils are chalky-clay, ferrous-clay or alluvial.
ELABORATION & AGING: 24 months in new french and american barrels with a further 12 months in cellar.
TASTING NOTE: Notes of tobacco, toast, and berry fruits. The palate delivers a balance of sweetness and structure with a satisfying finish. Drink over the next 4-5 years.
The wineries Vinícola Real, were founded in 1989 by Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, in the town of Albelda de Iregua, in the Rioja Alta.
Vinícola Real was born with the vocation of being a small production winery specialized in high quality wines and "paid wines".
The idea is to elaborate "great wines" of unique terroir, with a different way of elaboration and aging and with a pronounced personality.
The viticulture model is traditional. The harvest is done by hand in boxes of 15 kilos, and then passes through the selection table.
The cellar procedures are the minimum to respect the grapes as much as possible.
