GUSTAVETE EL MUDO 2020

Refurbished

GUSTAVETE EL MUDO

(SPANISH FILM - 1990) Gustavete - who is mute as the result of an explosion- is one of a trio of travelling vaudeville performers amidst the chaos of the Spanish Civil War.

The dangers and deprivation that they encounter in the republican side encourage the trio to go to Valencia/Alicante and end up in nationalist territory where they are arrested and taken as prisoners and must stage a burlesque of the Republic in exchange for their freedom, as patriotic as they are.
In these Southern parts Monastrell is the best historic representative, apt to adaption to the harsh conditions of climate and soil. DO Alicante represents 75% of its cultivation in the mayor DOs in Spain.

The drying temperatures leave less moister in the soil; most of it comes from the humidity of the Mediterranean winds. These drying conditions result in great potential for aroma of the grapes.

VARIETIES: Monastrell 100%

SOIL TYPE: Limestone with stones, ideal for drainage and retainance. The image of the castles here reflect this soil and climate.

AGING: 5 - 6 months oak.

TASTING NOTE: A deep violet colour in the glass. In the nose this wine displays black cherries, plums and earthy minerality and full bodied but elegant palate.
