Herència Altés LLUNARI 2019 - Verema Solidària

The Herencia Altés winery participated in the 2019 'Solidarity Harvest' and Llunari is the wine that results from that day that links wine tourism with social awareness in favor of people in vulnerable situations in the Catalan territory.

In total, more than 150 people participated and it was an afternoon-night harvest, to try to make the weather conditions of late summer more bearable. The farm of Lo Grau de l'Inquisidor -with a variety of white Grenache- was chosen to harvest for approximately one hour.

The objective of 'Vendimia Solidaria' (https://www.veremasolidaria.org/) is to return all the donations that have been contributed by the people registered in this experience linked to the vineyard, to the third sector entities that work with the territory with people at risk of social exclusion and poverty.


All the money raised in the 2019 edition will go to two charities: the 'Kilometer Zero' association in Tarragona; and the association 'Alba Jussà' of the Pallars Jussà.

ELABORATION OF THE LLUNARI 2019

Once the 15 kg boxes of organic Garnacha Blanca harvested from the Lo Grau de l'Inquisidor estate were collected, they spent 24 hours in a cold chamber (between 4-5ºC). Then, the grapes are destemmed to direct the resulting paste to a concrete tank where fermentation will take place spontaneously with the wild yeast that woke up in a vat foot carried out by the children participating in the harvest who crushed the grapes with the foots.

After 15 days of fermentation with the skins, the must is pressed to separate it from the paste and to continue and thus finish the fermentation in the same concrete tank and make a subsequent aging with its lees for 6 months.

Thanks to the long maceration with the skins, this organic wine is intensely aromatic with notes of white flowers, peach and a touch of citrus. Lots of creaminess and fine unctuousness that caresses the entire palate. Due to its aging on lees, this wine evokes bygone times with aromas of old bread ovens.

Pairing Proposal: Baked white meat or Cod with aioli muslin.

Our aging room is totally underground, to have the perfect temperature and humidity throughout the year in a sustainable way. We work with large oak foudres, of 5000 and 2500 liters, with the philosophy of making long aging, but with the minimum impact of the wood.

Herència Altés LA XALAMERA 2019 ORG

Positioned on the east side of a plateau that slopes towards Gandesa, La Xalamera occupies 15 hectares of classic Terra Alta terroir: a thin top layer of sandy loam resting on a thick slab of calcareous limestone that at points, penetrates the surface. The upper slopes of the valley lie at 442 metres, sloping down to 402 metres, where the soil is slightly more fertile.
